The South African police authority has said it has launched an investigation into the shooting incident that led to the death of a 13-year-old boy, leaving three others critically injured.
The shooting reportedly happened at the corner of Cadillac and Riley Streets Beacon Valley Mitchell’s Plain, around 8:50p.m.
It was gathered that the gunmen driving in a white vehicle, opened fire on the youths, and fled after the shooting.
Speaking for the South African Police Service, Officer of the Provincial Commissioner Western Cape, Colonel Andrè Trauta said the injured were aged 14, 16 and 18.
“ According to reports, the occupants of a white vehicle opened fire at the victims. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage, and the suspects are yet to be arrested.
“ Police were called to another scene on the corner of Cadillac and Austin Streets Beacon Valley where the body of an 13-year-old male was found with gunshot wounds to his neck.
“ The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. Cases of murder and attempted murder were opened for investigation.”
