Moving against crimes and criminality, Police officials in Bayelsa State have cracked down on a gun running gang in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
The operatives of the Anti kidnapping Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command had acted on a tip-off on Thursday 12th May, 2022.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, SP Asinim Butswat, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
It reads “Operatives of the Anti kidnapping unit, Bayelsa State Command while acting on a tip-off on 12th May, 2022 at about 1750 hours, bursted a gun running gang at a Brothel, at Ayama, Yenagoa Local Government Area.
“The suspects one Seibo Dokubo ‘m’ 32 years, a native of Degema, Rivers State and one Boma Daniel ‘m’ 45 years a native of Patani, Delta State, wanted to procure AK-47 Riffles for Kidnap purposes.
“One Brownie Pistol loaded with eight .9mm ammunition, three 12.7mm expended ammunition, sum of two million naira cash and a suspected stolen Toyota Hilux 2021 model without registration number, were recovered from the suspects.”
The suspects, the statement said, are cooperating with Police in its investigation and will be charge to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
