Towards a hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebration in Bayelsa State, the State Police Command has re-strategized security measures in the State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa Sate Command, SP Asinim Butswat, which was made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA).
Among the measures, it said, included intensification of patrols and surveillance across the State, and the ban of use of fireworks.
The statement said “The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ben Nebolisa Okolo, fdc has charged Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to intensify Patrols and Surveillance in the nooks and crannies of the State.
“The Command wishes to also re-echo an earlier warning concerning the ban on the use of fireworks.
“Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children and wards to desist from using knock-outs or any other form of fireworks,” it said.
The statement also urged members of the public to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
It also wished everyone “Merry Christmas and a happy new year.”
