For his commitment in promoting global peace and stability, and specially taking measures to combat organized crime in Africa, the President of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, has been awarded Senegal’s National Order of the Lion with the rank of Commander.
The President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, gave the award during a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Dakar.
Al Raisi received the award when he was invited by the Senegalese President to attend the celebrations of the country’s 63rd Independence anniversary.
Security Watch Africa (SWA) also gathered that Al Raisi was singled out for the award due to his unwavering commitment to serving the 195 member states of the organization.
“The award was given in appreciation of Al Raisi’s dedication to promoting global peace and stability, and his efforts in combatting organized crime worldwide, particularly in Africa, during President Sall’s tenure as Chairperson of the African Union.
“The medal was also a recognition of Al Raisi’s unwavering commitment to serving the 195 member states of the organisation.”
Speaking on the award, President of the INTERPOL said “I was honored to be awarded with L’ordre national du Lion du Sénégal by His Excellency President @Macky_Sall at a reception held at the Presidential Palace in Dakar.
“This medal represents our combined efforts and commitment to ensuring global peace and stability, while combating organized crime across Africa and the world” he stated.
