To boost total recovery, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) on Thursday handed over several quick impact projects and irrigation equipment to the communities of Baga in Kukawa Local Government, Borno State of Nigeria.
The communities had suffered over the years from the effects of terrorism in the North East of Nigeria.
A statement by the Military Public Information Officer, N’djamena – Chad, Lieutenant Colonel, Abubakar Abdullahi , and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), said “These projects have been implemented by the MNJTF in partnership with COGINTA, Non Governmental Organisation and are aimed at supporting the communities in recovering from the devastating Boko Haram attacks they have endured.
“Among the projects delivered are two consulting rooms and a renovated maternity room at the Baga Hospital, which will enhance healthcare services in the area.
“Additionally, eight latrines and a 30-meter fence have been constructed at the Baga Primary School to improve sanitation and security for the school.
“Furthermore, the MNJTF has provided ten boreholes and irrigation equipment to support local farmers in their agricultural activities.
The statement said that Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the Force Commander of the MNJTF, expressed that the projects are part of the MNJTF’s Civil-Military Cooperatives initiative and emphasized the need for community cooperation and support to effectively carry out operations.
He also encouraged the community members to make the most of the projects by utilizing and maintaining them properly.
The Chairman of Kukawa Local Government, Usman Alhaji Bukar Kekeno, expressed gratitude to the MNJTF and COGINTA for their support.
He acknowledged the “positive impact these projects will have on the communities and appealed for continued assistance in addressing the various challenges they face.”
The statement went on “The MNJTF’s initiative to provide quick impact projects and equipment showcases its commitment to supporting communities affected by Boko Haram attacks.
“By working together with local authorities and engaging in civil-military cooperation, the MNJTF aims to facilitate the recovery and development of the region, promoting peace, stability, and prosperity for the communities in Baga and environs.”
