For the will of God to be fully done in Nigeria, two men of God of the Christian and Muslim faith at the weekend harped on the necessity for Nigeria and Nigerians to return back to Almighty God.
The Founder of Chukwuma Nwokocha Ministries, Pastor Chukwuma Nwokocha and the Branch Missioner/Imam of the Ansar U Deen Mosque, Abuja, Dr. Olaofe Musa, spoke as studio guests during Security Watch Africa Initiatives (SWAI) programme on African Independent Television (AIT).
The topic of the discussion anchored by SWAI President and C.E.O, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, was “Spiritual Security and the Role of Religious Leaders In National Development”
Stressing that the problem in Nigeria has been the killings and bloodshed in the country, Pastor Nwokocha said Nigerians have to go back to God and ask for forgiveness.
He also noted that Nigerians have to appreciate God for what He haş been doing in Nigeria.
Speaking on spiritually in Nigeria, he said “Well, I think the way I look at it, first of all, I want to thank God for bringing us into this new year, this is 2024. And what I can say is that in terms of spiritual nature, not withstanding whatever that we are going through right now, we have a lot that is happening in this country, but assuming there is no God, or spiritual issues or spiritual men or religious men praying, it could have been worse.
“So we need to appreciate God for giving us such opportunity. If there are no religious leaders in this country, and we’re not praying, it would have been worse by now we would not have been together.
“So I appreciate God for giving us such men, I appreciate God for answering our prayers, the Christians are praying, the Muslims are praying.
“For those who say things are going worse, we know, but at the same time God is still doing something in Nigeria. If God is not doing something, all of us will not be here today. God kept us together, above everything, I think we should be thanking God,” he stated.
Pastor Nwokocha, however noted that there are some people who are parading themselves as men of God, but are actually problem to the society as they have already sold their conscience to the devil.
He also highlighted that some of them see the work of God as a form of business and are only interested in making money from it.
Such people who fall into the categories, he said, know themselves and cannot be called men of God as they have chosen to do what they want and not what God has commanded.
Stressing on the need for Nigerians to always pray to God for guidance, Dr. Olaofe Musa, urged Nigerians to go back to the Holy books in order to uncover what to be done to obey God.
According to him, not that God doesn’t hear prayers of Nigerians, but disobedience has stopped Him from answering.
He said “And if you go back to the Quran, God said this several times, call me, I am ever ready to answer your prayer. Despite the fact we did not see him, He told us to call on Him.
“We have been praying everybody in the mosque, in the churches. You see we have been praying let God give us what we want in Nigeria, may God protect us from all evils. Not that God did not listen to us, or did not answer our prayer.
“At times, we do somethings that get God angry. All those things He asked us not to do, we are still doing it,” he said.
On the need to be more spiritual, he said “Even to succeed in life, you must go spiritual because physical at times can look as if you are showing off.
“Spiritually, anything you want to do, just believe that with that spirituality, it makes things to be more easier.”
Before the programme ended, the two clergymen offered prayers for the nation and the security agencies.
