With the adoption of diverse non-kinetic measures, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has continued to record surrendering of more Boko Haram terrorists.
The latest was the surrending of two terrorists to MNJTF Sector 3.
A statement on Monday by the Chief of Military Public Information, Lieutenant Colonel, Abubakar Abdullahi, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), has disclosed this.
“The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Sector 3, Monguno, Nigeria has reported a continued trend of Boko Haram fighters laying down their arms, with 2 more fighters surrendering on 13 April, 2024.
“The latest fighters, identified as Ahmed Isiaka and Adam Muhammed, aged 18 and 17 respectively, hail from Kolloram, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria.
“They relinquished various items, including 250 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 50 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and a 9mm PARA round, among other personal belongings.”
On 26 March, 2024, the statement recalled that the MNJTF reported the surrender of 2 terrorist commanders.
“These events underscore the effectiveness of the diverse non-kinetic measures the MNJTF has implemented to promote safety and security in Lake Chad basin region impacted by Boko Haram and other terrorist activities. The MNJTF is committed to restoring peace and facilitating the return of normalcy to the affected region.”it stated.
