Storming suspected criminal hideouts at Apo, Abuja, some operatives of the FCT Police Command have identified black spots and arrested 32 suspected criminals.
In a coordinated exercise, on July 10, 2024, at about 5:45 PM, the Police officials raided the area serving as points of hibernation to scavengers (Baban Bola), and other hoodlums.
The thirty-two suspects, according to a statement by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Abuja, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), comprised of two females, and arrested for various offences, ranging from peddling of illicit substances to erection of illegal structures and shanties.
It added “The security operatives dismantled the shanties and illegal structures erected by the suspects, while exhibits such as mobile phones reasonably suspected to have been stolen from unsuspecting residents, dried leaves suspected to be marijuana (Cannabis sativa), and housebreaking tools were recovered from them.
“All apprehended suspects will be screened, while those found culpable will be profiled and arraigned in court to deter other intending criminals from turning these places into a brewing ground for criminals.
“While the investigation is still ongoing, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, assures residents of his commitment to flush out criminals from FCT and ensure the safety of all and sundry.
