In its fight against crime, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough as operatives of the Command arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered dangerous weapons and stolen items in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the State.
The two suspects arrested following a well-coordinated operation were Louis Joseph Thomas ‘m’, 23 years and Essien Friday Nelson ‘m’, 27 years.
A statement by DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Command, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), said “On 20th March, 2025, at about 23:30hrs, the Command received a distress call from the Control Room, reporting an ongoing armed robbery along Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village.
“Acting swiftly, tactical teams were mobilized to the scene, where the hoodlums were trailed to a Hotel (name withheld).
“A thorough search led to the recovery of the following items: Four (4) locally made pistols, Thirty-four (34) live cartridges, One (1) Moniepoint POS machine, Two (2) black face masks, Two (2) laptops, Three (3) Android phones, One (1) button phone, One (1) wristwatch and One (1) black long-sleeve Special Force polo.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, the statement said, commended the operatives for their swift response and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons.
“The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and urges the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention.
