Four teenage boys, in Ejigbo area of Lagos State, have been arrested by operatives of the state’ Police Command, for having carnal knowledge of a teenage girl (name withheld).
The suspects, identified as Jimoh Kakoru, Lukman Basit, Aleshinloye Sunday and Ifeoluwa Alabi, all aged 16, reportedly committed on February 16 around 10:00p.m.
It was gathered that the survivor was on her way to buy food at Lafenwa Stareet, at Ejigbo, when the boys, numbering about seven, accosted her, brandishing dangerous weapons.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the suspects threatened to kill the survivor if she raised the alarm and later dragged her to a room at No 33, Alhaji Obe Street, Ejigbo in Lagos, where she was countlessly defiled by the suspects.
Mr. Adejobi said, in a statement, that the mother of the survivor, One Tawa Abbey, of No 200, Mafo Bus Stop, Idimu Road, Ejigbo, reported the incident to the police.
According to Adejobi, “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ejigbo Division, mobilised his men to the scene where four of the boys were arrested. Some items were recovered from them including cutlasses and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the DPO to go after the fleeing members of the group and intensify efforts in getting Ejigbo area rid of bad boys who are fond of attacking and gang raping innocent ladies and causing pains to them. ”
He said the police boss has also reiterated the Command’s zeal to work with government agencies and interest groups in fighting against all sorts of social vices particularly rape, defilement and domestic violence.
The PPRO noted that, “The Commissioner of Police has also directed that the matter be transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba for discreet Investigation and prosecution, while he assured the general public of justice in the case.”
