The Board of Trustees of globally-acknowledge Africa’s security watchdog, Security Watch Africa, congratulates past winners of its prized awards in various categories, especially those who had served the nation meritoriously and are now in retirement, but still ready to serve Nigeria in various other capacities, both locally and internationally. The SWA BoT also commended such distinguished Nigerians who had been worthy of being honoured with its various categories of awards and that are still serving their fatherland in various positions today.
Chief among those being commended for what it called their ‘selfless and examplary service to Nigeria is immediate past Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who, on Tuesday, was cleared by the Nigerian Senate as Ambassador-designate to a foreign land.
Recall that Lt. Gen. Buratai had bagged the Golden Star Award for Exemplary National Defence Service in Africa and is now billed to serve Nigeria as an Ambassador.
Some of Security Watch Africa’s past award winners, who had retired but serving on other capacities are DIG Taiwo Fredrick Lakanu fdc, Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Logistics & Supply Department, now serving as Member of Lagos State Judicial Panel on #EndSARS. He was once a winner of Golden Star Award for Distinguished Police Service in West Africa.
Also in the list is AIG Chris Ezike, former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 4, Makurdi, but now an Adviser to Sir Emeka Offor Foundation. AIG Ezike once won SWA’s Best Crime Bursting Police Chief in West & Central Africa
The Board of Trustees also commended the relentless efforts of those in its list of awardees who had retired to private lives like Lt.-Gen. Lamidi O. Adeosun, Former Chief of Policy and Plans, Nigerian Army, who once bagged SWA’s Golden Star Award for Exemplary Leadership, Gallantry & Patriotism.
AIG H.H Karma, Former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Operation Abuja, Nigeria Police Force, who once went home with SWA’s Most Outstanding Police Zonal Command in West Africa. AIG Imohimi Edgal, Former Assistant Inspector General of Police FCID, and Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, who was a recipient of SWA’s Most Outstanding Anti-Crime Police Chief in West Africa. 14th Edition and Golden Star Award for Urban Crime Control in Africa of its 15th Edition Awards.
Others commended for their service to fatherland were AIG Zubairu Muazu, Former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit, a recipient of SWA’s Golden Star Award for Urban Crime Control in West & Central Africa, CP Bello Ahmed, Former Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Police Command, recipient of SWA’s Most Outstanding Anti-Crime Police Chief in West & Central Africa and Best Anti-Crime Security Chief in West & Central Africa.
The Security Watch Africa Board of Trustees also commended the dexterity of some of its past awardees who were recently promoted with new appointments.
They are Major General SA Adebayo, Former, Chief of Military Intelligence, Nigerian Army, who is now Chief of Defence Intelligence, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and a once winner of SWA’s Golden Star Award for Exemplary Leadership & Patriotism in West & Central Africa. Also, DIG Danmallam Mohammed, former Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police Command and now appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Training and Development. Mr. Danmallam Mohammed once won SWA’s Best Anti-Crime Police Chief in West & Central Africa 14th Edition and Best Conflict Resolution Police Chief in Africa of its 15th Edition awards ceremony.
The board also commended AIG Garba Baba Umar, Head INTERPOL Nigeria, who once received SWA’s Best Crime Bursting Police Chief in Nigeria, 14th edition and Best Crime Bursting Police Chief in West Africa.
Also, AIG Zaki Ahmed, former Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command and who is now Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 6, Calabar, was once a recipient of SWA’s Most Outstanding Anti-Crime Police Chief in Nigeria, 14th Edition and winner of Golden Star Award for Exemplary National Security Service in West & Central Africa at the 15th Edition.
Also commended by the BoT is AIG Dasuki Galadanchi, former Commissioner of Police, Imo State Police Command who is now Assistant Inspector General of Police FCID Annex, Lagos State. AIG Galadanchi once received SWA’s Golden Star Award for Excellence in Policing in West Africa. AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, former Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command is now Assistant Inspector General, Zone 2, Lagos State. He once received SWA’s Most Innovative Crime Bursting Police Chief in West Africa.
AIG John B. Abang, a former Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command. Now Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 4, Makurdi, was once a winner of SWA’s Best Crime Bursting Chief in West Africa. While Ag. AIG Lawan Jimeta, a former Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force & Bauchi State Police Command, who is now Commandant Police Academy (POLAC), Wudi, Kano State, once won SWA’s Most Innovative Anti-Crime Police Chief in West Africa.
Also, CP Ali Mohammed, a former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations Department, Lagos State Police Command and now Commissioner of Police, Delta State, once won SWA’s Best Police Operations Chief in West Africa. SP Haruna Mohammed, now is Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, got the Most Outstanding Police Public Relations Officer in West Africa, SP Usman Abdul Dimka, Commander, Eagle-Net Special Squad, Delta State Police Command once won SWA’s Best Crime Bursting Police Officer in West Africa, while SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, once received SWA’s Best Police Public Relations Officer in Nigeria.
