A Kenyan woman has been arrested for killing her 14-months old son at her home in Ng’ope village in North Kabuoch.
It was gathered that the suspect beheaded the child after he refused to be breastfed last Saturday. She reportedly raised alarm over the heinous crime and neighbours who rushed to her rescue found the severed head of the boy in a pool of his blood.
Security Watch Africa reports that the suspect is been held at Ndhiwa Police Station pending investigation and prosecution.
Speaking on the incident, the Konyango Assistant Chief, Gabriel Nyatame said the woman’s husband was away when the incident occurred.
He said the police rescued the woman from angry residents who wanted to lynch her, as she had been tied to a tree within the compound.
“I reached the home and stopped them from killing the suspect. We reported and the woman was taken to Ndhiwa police station,” Nyatame said.
Ndhiwa Police Commander, Robert Aboki said they will question the woman over the incident before taking her to court.
Aboki said a mental test will also be conducted at a health facility as part of investigations.“The suspect says she beheaded the baby after he refused to breastfeed. But we’re looking beyond this justification,” Aboki said.
It was also learnt that the dismembered body of the boy was collected and taken to Manyata Kobodo mortuary.
