A yet-to-be identified woman, said to be in her thirties, has been murdered in a hotel room in Accra, Ghana.
It was gathered that the presumed lover of the deceased, had booked the hotel room a night before, where the duo spent the night.
The man, who is said to have Nigerian intonation, reportedly left the next morning and never returned, only for the body of the deceased to be found later.
According to the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, the police has begun search for the suspect.
Tenge said: ” On March 3, a report was made by the operators of the hotel at Kokomlemle, that a man with Nigerian accent booked a room on Monday, March 1, and later received a female visitor.
“ The male client left the next day and did not return, but on Wednesday, March 3, the operators of the hotel broke into the room and saw the female visitor, motionless on the bed.
“ Police proceeded to the scene at the hotel and saw a lady of about 35 years, lying dead in the room.”
The Police Spokesperson said the body was examined and wounds suspected to have been inflicted with a sharp object were found.
DSP Tenge added that there was no form of identification of the deceased and that management of the hotel had poor record keeping.
“They failed to write details of their clients in the book even though they had one for that purpose. The hotel did not also have a CCTV coverage that would have helped investigations, ” she said.
Stating that investigations has commenced, the police spokesperson said Crime Scene Experts have also visited the scene.
