One Gladys Ikegwuonu, of Ohaozora in Ebonyi State, has been declared wanted by the Anambra State Police Command, as prime suspect in the kidnap of a four-year-old boy and for operating a baby factory.
It was learnt that on March 11, the Area Command Headquarters, Nnewi, had received a report that a four year old child of St Joseph’s School, Otolo Nnewi, was returning home from School in company of his siblings when two men on a motorcycle grabbed the child and zoomed off with him.
The child was rescued by some commercial motorcyclists who pursued and eventually arrested the suspects at Akamili Community, Nnewi.
According to the Anmabra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), preliminary investigations conducted by the Police revealed that the suspects who were beaten to stupor by an angry mob (one of whom was confirmed dead), were sent by Gladys Ikegwuonu.
“ They disclosed she also operates a baby factory and a brothel by keeping young girls and getting them impregnated after which she sells the children to her waiting customers.
“The two suspects arrested are Abuchi Ani, aged 32, of Ohazora, Ebonyi State, and Emeka Ikegwuonu, aged 49, of Akabukwu, Nnewi, Anambra State.
Mohammed added that Police Detectives discovered a baby factory and four pregnant young girls, ” Four pregnant young girls, Chisom Okoye, 20, of Mgbaneze Isu, Onicha LGA,. Ebonyi State, Chinecherem Clement, 18, of Agbaebo Isu of Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State, Blessing Ogbonna, 21, of Nkwagu Isu of Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State and Blessing Njoku, 21, of Mgbaneze Isu of Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State, all residing at Cool Joint bar Nnewi, were rescued, ” he said.
Meanwhile, the Command is intensifying efforts to arrest the principal suspect, in order to bring her and other accomplices to Justice.
