A suspect allegedly responsible for the killing of a Policeman, Sergeant Moshela Mokgobo, in Alexander, has handed himself over to the Police at Johannesburg Police Station.
It was gathered that Sergeant Mokgobo and colleagues were following a suspicious vehicle when the vehicle in question got stuck in traffic on Third Street near Pan African Mall.
The Sergeant and his colleagues approached the said vehicle on foot when shots were fired at them by the occupant.
According to Colonel Brenda Muridili, the Sergeant was shot and he immediately succumbed to his injuries.
“ The Province immediately initiated the 72-Hour Activation Plan which entailed the mobilization of all the necessary resources needed to investigate the incident.
“ The 52-year-old suspect sensed the net was closing in on him forcing him to hand himself over to Police. He will appear in court soon on charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a Municipal area.
