No fewer than 12 Boko Haram insurgents were reportedly killed on Sunday night during a gun battle with soldiers in Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State.
Sources said troops eliminated the terrorists while they were attempting to attack troops of 192 Battalion from the Gwoza Madara mountain with sporadic firing.
It was gathered that the Tango 9 troops responded rapidly, engaged the terrorist with high volume of fire power and instantly neutrialised seven of them on the spot and forcing the terrorist to retreat.
” Also, after exploring the general area with heavy firing as well as engaging the mountains with motar bombs, 5 additional terrorists were discovered dead during the exploitation.
“ The troops also recovered 10 AK 47 Rifles, 1 Anti Aircraft gun and one motorcycles as well as several other items from the terrorist, ” a source stated.
