Five suspects have been nabbed for alleged murder, ATM bombings, safe blasting and business robberies around Sekhukhune District in Limpopo Province.
The suspects aged between 34 and 35 are believed to be part of a gang of criminals that has been terrorising members of the community especially the business sector in and around the Sekhukhune District.
According to the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, the suspects were apprehended at their homes during the Tactical Intelligence Driven joint operation conducted by the SAPS Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigations Unit, the SAPS Limpopo Highway Patrol Team and members of the Jane Furse Police station.
“Several items such as Plasma TVs, clothing, cell phones and fridge that were reportedly stolen from various retail stores and residences were recovered during the arrest.
“The Preliminary Police Investigations further indicated that one of the suspects is on bail for ATM bombing case which took place at Mahlakung plaza in the Sekororo area under Maake Policing precinct outside Tzaneen in the Mopani District, during October 2020,” he said.
Ledwaba further hailed operatives for the feat, saying: “We will keep fighting these criminals until they are behind bars and find no space to operate in Limpopo.”
He added that the suspects may still be linked to more other similar cases in the Province as the Police investigations are continuing.
Security Watch Africa reports that the suspects will appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court soon, as manhunt for the remaining suspects is still underway.
