The General Officer Commanding (GOC), South African Army Infantry Formation, Major General Patrick Njabulo Dube, has charged learners of the Non- Commissioned Officers (NCO) Formative Course at Infantry School in the Western Cape to yield to the trainings been offered as it will make them better officers.
He gave the charge at the official opening of the course at Infantry School and urged the trainees to carry out the SA Army’s theme which seeks to define and refine command and leadership as a critical success factor for the restoration of the dignity of the SA Army to its rightful glory.
The Army Chief further stated that Army Infantry Formation members should continuously empower themselves, through education, training and development within the Infantry formation.
He said: “Continuous training gives the opportunity to members to grow in different career fields and creates synergy within the human resource management structure. Therefore, the SA Army Infantry Formation needs to adapt to the current realities.
“The SA Army Infantry Formation continues to play its role by preparing and providing combat-ready forces according to its Mandate. This mandate does not cease to exist in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I therefore encouraged members to use the opportunity afforded to them even in the midst of inadequate resources and the COVID-19 pandemic ensuring that they observe all the prescripts.
The General Officer Commanding also visited the factotum to evaluate and check the progress of the refurbishments and renovations that are currently underway at the facilities in Infantry School.
He further declared the courses open and continued to highlight the ‘Zero Tolerance Campaign” in terms of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse to the learners on the course.
Major General Dube also encouraged members to bring to the attention of the authorities should any issue of this nature occur at any given space and time.
