For dealing in dagga worth about R310,000-00, South African Police Service (SAPS) officials on Friday arrested a 37 years old man at Nkandla Shanties, Galeshewe in Kimberly, Northern Cape Province.
The dagga seized, according to a statement by Captain Sergio Kock of the South African Police Service, Office of the Provincial Commissioner Northern Cape, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), was weighing 61kg.
It reads “The Frances Baard District Crime Intelligence and Kimberley K9 Unit followed up on information and pounce on an alleged dagga dealer in Galeshewe.
“On Friday, 15 October 2021 at about 8am Police raided a shack in Nkandla Shanties, Galeshewe and seized 15 bags of dagga.
“The dagga weighs 61kg and has an approximate street value of R310,000-00. A 37-year-old male was arrested for dealing in dagga and should be appearing in the Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court soon. The investigation continues.
“The Frances Baard District Commissioner, Maj. -Gen. Johan Bean lauded all the members for the continuous efforts in squeezing the space for drug dealers to operate.
“The unabated and relentless efforts of the members and the valuable assistance of the community is yielding positive results in the eradication of dagga and drugs from our society”, Bean said.”
