Cracking down on terrorists in the Lake Chad Region, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Troops on Monday 25 November, 2024 repelled a night attack in Kirawa, Cameroon.
The troops, operating under Sector One in Mora, demonstrated exceptional vigilance and combat readiness in the face of a coordinated night assault by the ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists.
The attack, according to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel, Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF N’djamena, Chad, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), occurred under the cover of darkness, as terrorists attempted to overrun the MNJTF’s tactical outpost in Kirawa.
“The alert troops quickly identified the approaching threat and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.
“The troops’ swift and decisive response resulted in the elimination of 2 terrorists, while others were forced to retreat, sustaining gunshot wounds.
“Consolidating on the victory, own troops further conducted a thorough sweep of the area to ensure the security of their position. During the clearance operation, they recovered a grenade and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), preventing potential future threats.” it stated.
MNJTF, the statement said, will continue in its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Lake Chad Region.
