Armed bandits dressed in military camouflage and school uniforms have attacked the Government Science College, Kagara in Niger State, North Central Nigeria. At least one student is reported killed, and several others abducted.
The attackers who stormed the College about 2:45am local time also captured some teachers and their family members residing within the College Staff Quarters.
A source told SWAfrica News that “We were woken up by loud sounds of gunshots. I didn’t know where the sound was coming from until we rushed out of the house and we were informed that some people were shooting at the College. Everywhere was dark so we couldn’t go to see clearly what was happening. It was at daybreak that some of us summoned courage to go to the College and some of the students who escaped told us what happened. It was a fearful experience”.
Security operatives are reported to be on the trails of the bandits with the air component tracking their movement and location.
