Against the rumoured strike action by officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has commended them for shunning the fake news.
The fake news had claimed that the officers and men will embark on the strike action on Saturday 26th of March, 2022.
The IGP had earlier directed all police officers and men to report to duty from 7a.m to 7p.m on Saturday 26th March, 2022, across the country.
From the reports he received on Saturday evening from all the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, the officers and men complied with his directive and reported for duty during the period.
The Police Boss, in an internal communication sighted by Security Watch Africa (SWA) on Saturday, also expressed his continuous commitment to improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Force.
The internal communication reads “The Inspector General of Police directs all Policemen to stand down from 1900 hours (7p.m). While Inspector General of Police is highly impressed and appreciative of your commitment to the Nigeria Police Force, your fatherland and professionalism exhibited by all officers/men.
“All are recognised for continuous resilience, dogmatism and high spirit of patriotism towards ensuring law and order prevails.
“The Inspector General of Police further reiterate the continuous efforts of the Management Team on ensuring the welfare of officers/men is highly prioritised,” it stated.
