An assailant, who snatched a rifle from a Traffic Police Officer, and shot two persons dead, has been gunned down by operatives of the Kenyan Police.
It was gathered that the incident which happened last Friday in Kisumu, also led to the injury of several others.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau alongside their Anti-Terror counterparts, the assailant was not just the ordinary criminal, but had prior to the attack received training in tactical maneuvers and weapon handling.
“ Preliminary forensic investigations indicate that the assailant’s details cannot be traced in respective government records. The three identity cards that were found in his possession belong to other individuals who have since been identified.
“ So far, nobody has come forward to claim his body or even identify him as a relative, further complicating the investigations.
“ As detectives burn the midnight oil trying to figure out the true identity of the assailant and who else may have been part of his criminal network, members of the public are urged to study the published images, captured while he was in action against innocent civilians,” DCI said.
