A Motherwell detective hunted down and arrested a suspect at dawn, Tuesday morning, for the alleged murder of a man at a house in Twebane Street in NU 9.
A release by Col Priscilla Naidu said that at about 19:00, a group of neighbours were sitting in the house when they heard a baby crying in the shack at the back of the house.
A female went to investigate and as she neared the door, she heard the couple inside the shack arguing. When she opened the door, the 23-year-old female lunged at her with a knife. The woman’s screams alerted the others inside the house. When Christopher Cengani, 45, ran from the main house, the enraged female also lunged at him with the knife. He was stabbed several times. The suspect ran away.
The injured Cengani was rushed to hospital by private transport. He died during the early hours of this morning. Since the attack, the investigating officer hunted down the suspect. She was arrested at 06:00, this morning, hiding at a house further down the street.
She is being detained on a charge of murder and will appear in the Motherwell Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
