Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has announced a review of the 10p.m. to 6a.m. curfew, imposed on Aba and Umuahia.
According to Ikpeazu, the curfew will now be between 8p.m. and 6a.m., extending to Ohafia and Arochukwu areas of the State.
Speaking via a statement by the Chief of Staff to the governor, Anthony Agbazuere, the governor warned of collateral consequences, for violators.
He said: “ All citizens are advised to strictly comply to avoid collateral consequences as security agencies are already on alert to ensure airtight enforcement of the curfew, ” the statement read.
Security Watch Africa reports that the decision for the adjustments was taken at an Abia State Security Council’s emergency meeting on Tuesday.
“ Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has approved that the curfew imposed in the State should henceforth commence from 8pm to 6am, and the towns involved are Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia, and Arochukwu, ” it also stated.
Recall that the Abia government had on April 5, imposed a 10:00p.m. to 6:00a.m. curfew on Aba and Umuahia.
