Towards winning the war against terrorism, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, this Monday commissioned seven Cyber Warfare Command Satellite Communication Vehicles.
The vehicle commissioning was the highpoint of the opening ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff Combined Second and Third Quarters Conference 2021 held at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess in Abuja.
The Commander of the Nigeria Army Cyber Warfare Command (NACWC), Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu, highlighted the characteristics of the vehicles before it was commissioned.
The characteristics, he said, included VSAT (Ka Band Antenna), High frequency 26.5-40 Ghz band, High throughput Broadband Internet, Easy to Mount and Self-pointing to Satellite, two axis motorized system.
According to him, the camera of the vehicles also covers 6.5km distance with 120-degree angular view.
“It has night vision capability and 360-degree auto track,” he added.
For the voice Over Internet Protocol, he said, the vehicles have communication with Nigerian Army Ops Centre, Office of the COAS and NACWC.
He disclosed that other capabilities of the vehicles include Command and Control, Quick Internet set-up at halt capabilities (wired and wireless), surveillance on the move and digital map.
“These vehicles, as you see them came at the right time, particularly that recently where we are conducting operations do not have commercial telephone services and these vehicles will be ready for deployment and will be very useful for those areas,” Adamu said.
“This is a good initiative.” The COAS stated while commissioning the vehicles.
