Towards sustaining peace in Borno State, Lt. Gen. TY Buratai’s (Rtd.) 4th Edition Peace and Unity Cup competition has successful held in the State.
Buratai, who is the Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, is said to be using kinetic and non-kinetic ways to restore peace and unity in Borno State, Northeast and the entire country at large.
The fourth edition of Ambassador Lt Gen TY Buratai (Rtd) Peace and Unity cup was monitored in Borno state by Security Watch Africa (SWA).
The competition, which attracted thousands of youths in the State, had fourty-four clubs from the various parts of the State participating.
It is recalled that Borno State which is tagged as the “Home of Peace” in Nigeria was greatly disturbed by Boko Haram insurgents until the assumption of office by Ambassador Buratai as Chief of Army Staff (COAS), when all the Local Government Areas under the insurgents were recaptured.
The trooping out of residents to be part of the competition is one of the testimonies of returning of peace to the State.
At the end of the competition organized by TY Buratai Foundation, clubs and individuals were given different kind of sporting equipments and set of Jerseys, awards, among other gifts.
Within the regulation time of ninety minutes, F. C Arsenal of Bolori defeated F. C Buratai Academy by three goals to two.
To see more of these actions, supporters and spectators across the State have called on well to do individuals in the society to emulate Ambassador Buratai by contributing their own quarter for youths engagement and development.
Apart from Borno State, similar completions have been held in other parts of the country.
While a competition was organized in honour of Buratai at Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a similar one was organized in Nasarawa State at the tail end of year 2021.
Some of the dignitaries that attended the competition included the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Deputy Controller of Correctional Service, Alhaji Ali Bolori, Chairman, M.M.C and Alhaji Babagana Kalli Kachallah, Chairman, Borno State Football Association F.A, among others.
