The incumbent Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), General Christopher Gwabin Musa has been voted by readers of this blog, www.swafricanews.com as the ‘Nigeria Defence Man of Year 2024’
This was the consensus opinion readers who voted through the Security Watch Africa’s (SWA) Nigeria Security Impact Recognition (NSIR) initiative.
The initiative was instituted to recognize the efforts and contributions of outstanding security personnel and Agencies, who have done something extraordinary in their various categories in the year 2024.
The esteemed readers and viewers across the globe voted the Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa as the ‘Nigeria Defence Man of Year 2024’ for being the BEACON and DIRECTION in the fight against Terrorism and Insurgency in Nigeria in 2024.
Receiving the Commendation Award in his office at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, General Musa said he dedicated the award to officers and soldiers toiling day and night on the field sacrificing for the unity and progress of Nigeria.
Before the presentation, the President / CEO of SWA, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, noted that the award was also follow up to the decision reached at the 18th edition of Africa Security Watch Awards and Conference held in Doha, Qatar last December.
This, he said, was to identify individuals and organisations that have done something extraordinary in the security sector in the year 2024 despite insecurity challenges trending globally and commend them for their efforts.
Mr. Agbambu said that General Musa has led the Armed Forces of Nigeria in stabilising the North East and playing roles to ensure sanity is brought to bear on the hitherto North West and all troubled zones in Nigeria.
