Operatives of the Force Investigation Bureau (FIB) Special Tactical Squad (STS), have arrested four suspected kidnappers who abducted and killed a businessman, Onyeka Ezewulu in Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State Capital.
The Police team led by one Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Julian Wealth Igbudu, were directed by the Officer-in-Charge of the STS, Kolo Yusuf, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), to unravel the mystery behind the abduction of the victim, who also kidnapped one Barrister Ime Sampson.
It was gathered that although the family of the victim had paid N2 million as ransom, the suspects shot the 36-year-old Ezewulu on the leg, which resulted in excessive loss of blood, and his untimely death.
A Police source privy to the operation, said investigations led detectives to one Deborah Sunday, a member of the gang who also helped Police to round up the other suspects.
The source said: “ The gang of kidnappers were responsible for the kidnap of one Barrister Ime Sampson, on December 31, 2020, along Stadium Road, Uyo and the kidnap of one Mr Onyeka Ezewulu, a native of Ihiala, a businessman, who was kidnapped on March 5, along Idoro Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
“ The victim was shot by his abductors on the leg and he gave up the ghost on the March 6, while in the custody of the kidnappers, it’s pertinent to know that the family paid the ransom of N2million, on March 10. While carrying out the investigation, Police operatives discovered that the said victim has been killed and buried somewhere in Nsit Ibom.
“ A female suspect by name Deborah Sunday, who gave information on the status of the victim was arrested, three others met their waterloo. ”
Security Watch Africa reports that the recovery of corpse by exhumation was carried out by the Crack Team of the Special Tactical Squad, led by DCP Kolo Yusuf, a crime buster per excellence, with a Pathologist from the University Teaching Hospital, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Also the representative of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State was present at the scene.
