In line with global trend, Nigeria is marking INTERPOL WEEK with series of activities.
The motto of this year’s INTERPOL WEEK is, “For a safer world”.
With the Week starting on Friday November 12, 2021, Security Watch Africa (SWA) gathered that special prayers were conducted at the Force Headquarters Mosque in Abuja.
The activities continued on Saturday November 13, 2021 with a keep fit walk, that took participants from the Force Headquarters Abuja, to the Eagle Square and back.
In line with the motto for the year, the Head of the Nigerian Central Bureau of the INTERPOL, AIG Garba Baba Umar, charged all participants to bring their knowledge, experience, competence and capabilities together, in addressing the global security challenges.
The walk was led by the President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Hajiya Hajara Usman Alkali Baba, who was not “only vibrantly effervescent, but demonstrated a highly motivational and inspirational leadership to all participants, in a manner that gave everyone serious sports stimulation.”
Besides agile actions, zeal and enthusiasm in the field, Hajiya Hajara has “combined competence in crowd control, with the mastery of population incentive, to pull the crowd in high and happy spirit from the Force Headquarters all the way to the Eagle Square and back.
“And to add colour to the event, which was full of excitement, the Chief Host, AIG Garba Baba Umar came out in his true colour- energetically animated, full of life and actively outgoing, dancing and cheering everyone to happiness.”
One of AIG Garba Umar’s aides, Inspector Isyaku Joseph, was also there with his team of power bikers to thrill the crowd with their theatrics.
In her characteristic cheerfulness, when asked by journalists to give the closing prayers, the leader of the event, Hajiya Hajara Alkali Baba, called on “Allah, the magnificent, that come the week after next, when the global Police would converge in Istanbul, Turkey, for the 89th General Assembly of the INTERPOL, to bring success to Nigeria, by making AIG Garba Baba Umar emerge as the new Vice President, Africa, for the organization.”
