The sustained evening and night patrols of Maiduguri metropolis and part of Jere/konduga by operatives of the Borno State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has led to the arrest of three young boys vandalising a street electricity transformer.
Security Watch Africa (SWA) reports that the patrols which are in conjunction with other sister Security Agencies is aimed at averting the infiltration by Boko Haram Terrorists, especially in the last ten days of Ramadan fasting.
A reliable source informed SWA that the boys were intercepted early morning of Saturday.
“Our patrol team intercepted the three young boys. During investigation, we found out that they are IDPs who were contracted by an adult by name ‘DOGO’ to carry out the crime.
“According to them it was the 5th time they were contracted to vandalise electricity installations. This is a new strategy by nefarious elements to engage underage boys,” the source said.
It was gathered that the Commandant, Borno State Command of NSCDC, Abdullahi Ibrahim has also commended the operatives, who he described as ‘vigilant and committed’ and charged them not relent in the fight against terrorism and all forms of criminality in the State.
