The Benue State Police Command has declared 24-year-old man, Benjamin Otukpa, (popularly known as SAGE), wanted for the murder of Mrs Eunice Aghanya, the wife of retired Commissioner of Police (CP), Ibezimako Aghanya.
Recall that Eunice, a businesswoman, was killed at her home in Makurdi on March 12.
Otukpa who is said to be the prime suspect in the murder, had reportedly worked at Eunice’s bakery before it was shut down.
In a public notice signed by the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Anene Catherine, a warrant of arrest has been issued for the suspect by the Magistrate Court, Makurdi.
“He is wanted for culpable homicide. A reasonable amount awaits anyone with useful information that will lead to his arrest,” part of the notice read.
Speaking on the development, the retired Police Commissioner said, the suspect has a case of two house-breakings at their home pending in court but he jumped bail.
“Reliable information indicates he was seen hurriedly leaving the vicinity of my house within the the period my wife was killed. The same modus he used to gain access into my house twice was the same way he gained entry the day he suspectedly killed my wife.
“The only difference was that he came with an instrument to break the block used to cover his former route into the house. He is a notorious Cult boy and has not been seen in Makurdi after the killing of my wife. By God’s grace, he will be arrested”, he said.
