For peace and orderliness, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has assured Deltans of a hitch free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
To this end, he has ordered massive deployment of Personnel across the State to provide adequate security before, during and after the celebrations to ensure protection of all residents in the State and the successes of all activities lined up to mark the celebrations.
The CP, in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer,
Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), directed that all Area Commanders, DPOS and Tactical Commanders to “deploy men to all venues of the celebrations and other resort centres to avoid mischief makers showing their ugly faces and causing any form of mayhem for law abiding citizens in the State and to ensure proper supervision of their men deployed.”
According to the statement, Police Patrol teams have been drawn from Dragon Patrol, Safer Highways, Rapid Response Squad, Quick Response Squad, and Eagle-Net Special Squad for the celebrations.
It added “Traffic Control at the Head bridge has equally been taken care of as both Police personnel and traffic wardens have been deployed solely for the purpose of traffic control while the Divisional Police Officers ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions Asaba and the State Traffic Officer have been tasked with the responsibility of working with other security agencies to ensure free flow of traffic.”
The CP, it stated, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police incharge Operation to organize Continuous ‘OPERATION SHOW OF FORCE’ with effect from Tuesday 20th, Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th December, 2022 in all parts of the State and to be supervised by the eight Area Commanders with a view to ensuring a hitch free Yuletide period.
He therefore urged members of the public to be “law abiding and continue to support the Police in the fight against crime and criminality while assuring them of the Command’s commitment in providing security, maintenance of law and order, protection of lives and properties among other duties.
“The CP on behalf of Officers and men of Command wishes all Deltans, residents in the State and Nigerians in general a hitch free celebration,” the statement said.
