For allegedly involvement in kidnapoing, men of Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a 27 years old woman, Mariam Ayila on Tuesday, 20th of December, 2022.
She was arrested for kidnapping a 13 years old girl, Sofiat Yusau.
The arrest, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, and made available to Security Watch Africa (SWA), was effected based on information received.
It said “The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Agbara Divisional Headquarters by one Ismail Yusau, who reported that, he sent his daughter on errand to Agbara market at about 11am of the day, only to receive a strange call some hours after from an unknown person, who informed him that his daughter has been kidnapped, and that if he didn’t send the sum of N250,000 as ransom, he will never set his eyes on the girl again.
“Upon the report, the DPO Agbara division, CSP Abiodun Salau, mobilized his Crack Detectives, who embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation.
“Their efforts yielded positive result when the suspect was traced to her hideout at Atan Ota area, where she was promptly arrested and the little girl was rescued unhurt.”
Preliminary investigation, the statement said, has revealed that the suspect had earlier kidnapped a young girl at Itele Ota area on the 19th of December, 2022, and ransom paid to her before she released her victim.
It also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be handed over to the Anti kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and prosecution.
