To reciprocate the gesture by the government, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of Police Mobile Force (PMF), AIG Ali Janga, has tasked the newly promoted officers of the PMF to redouble their efforts against insecurity.
Among those promoted and decorated, as monitored by Security Watch Africa (SWA), included Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Emmanuel Ubi Inyang and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mohammed Guri.
They were promoted by the Police Service Commission (PSC) based on the recommendation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba.
Decorating the officers with their new ranks on Friday, AIG Janga urged them to see their promotion as opportunity to do more for the country.
He was supported at the brief decoration ceremony by the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday.
He said “Promotion is a thing of joy. If it comes we gather with our colleagues to celebrate.
“If it does not come we pray for it to come. Your promotion is from God but the IGP recommended you.
“But you must know that to whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.
He added “So this promotion is for you to know that higher tasks will be bestowed on you and you should redouble your efforts in the drive to eliminate insecurity in the country or reduce it to the barest minimum.”
ACP Inyang, presently the 2nd in Command of Mopol 44, at Force Headquarters, has also held several key positions before the recent promotion.
The past positions he occupied included Deputy Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Officer in Charge of Anti-Car Theft, FCT Police Command, Divisional Police Officer, Jikwoyi Division, Divisional Police Officer, Apo Division, Officer in Charge General Investigation, SCIID at FCT Command and Officer in Charge SARS, State ClID, FCT Police Command.
Inyang had also served as Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Police Command, Divisional Traffic Officer, Ikere, Ekiti State Police Command and Divisional Crime Officer, Ikere, Ekiti State.
DCP Mohammed Guri was Commander Mopol 45, Abuja before his promotion to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
