Barely three days after power was restored to Maiduguri and its environs, tragedy has struck again as suspected members of Boko Haram have vandalised the power transmission line, again.
Security Watch Africa gathered that Engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria had only finished repairs on the power line and restored power on March 24, after months of blackout in the areas.
The celebration of the return of electricity power to Maiduguri and it’s environs was however abruptly halted at about 5:55a.m. on Saturday.
A reliable source informed Security Watch Africa that Transmission Company of Nigeria Engineers are in crossroads as they are waiting for security escort before heading to the location of attacks to assess damages caused and possibly commence repairs again.
“ Electricity power was just restored to us after some months in total darkness. Many residents started celebrating, while some were worried that the celebration may anger Boko Haram members, forcing them to launch an attack. Sadly today, it happened.
” I don’t know when next we will get power from electricity again, ” said the source.
