Two suspected armed robbers, alleged to have dispossessed a rice merchant, Nonso Nwibo, of N120,000 at Ipamesan area of Sango-Ota, have been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command.
The suspects, Sadiq Hassan and Kudus Rasaq, were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sango-Ota Division, Godwin Idehai, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), that robbers have invaded the shop of the said Nonso and robbed him of the said amount as well as his Techno handset at gun point.
According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, the DPO had after receiving the distress call, quickly led his men to the scene.
“But on sighting the Policemen, the robbers took to flight. The operatives gave them a hot chase and Hassan was arrested with a locally made pistol while the others escaped.
“Following diligent investigation, the second suspect by name Kudus Rasak was apprehended on April 19, n a hideout at Owode Ijako, and a live cartridge was also recovered from him. The two suspects have confessed been the robbers who robbed Nonso of his valuables.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP), Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for discreet investigation,” he said.
