The University of Abuja (Uni-Abuja) and the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) are ready to partner in training on Electronic Public Relations (E-PR), Media and Information Operations.
The partnership is to enhance the capacity of officers and men in handling military information and adapting to new trends in information management and operations.
This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor (VC), Uni-Abuja, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi when the Acting Commandant, NASPRI, Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde, paid a courtesy visit to the VC.
Security Watch Africa (SWA) gathered that the VC who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Philip Afaha, while welcoming the Acting Commandant and his entourage, praised the Directorate of Army Public Relations for its prompt response and information dissemination on military activities and engagements to keep Nigerians and the world at large abreast with development as they occur.
He commended NASPRI on its drive to seek new knowledge in the field of Public Relations, Media and Information Operations.
He stated that the military should not be out of touch with new developments in media studies in its pursuit of kinetic operations alone; stressing that a country’s last line of defence, is their Military.
Professor Afaha pledged the Institution’s readiness to partner with NASPRI in training students on modern practice in the field of Public Relations.
He equally disclosed that as part of the new partnership, NASPRI was free to access the Institution’s Digital Library and Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, as well as resource persons on research, workshops, and seminars. He pledged to reciprocate the visit.
Speaking earlier, the Acting Commandant NASPRI, Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde, thanked the VC for the audience despite the institution’s tight schedule.
He disclosed that following the relocation of NASPRI from Bonny Cantonment, in Lagos, to its permanent site at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja, in 2023, NASPRI has sought to maximise the vast resources available at the Uni-Abuja.
