Four suspects, wanted for murder and arson committed in 2017 in Asem-Uku Community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, have been arrested by operatives of the State Police Command.
Security Watch Africa reports that operatives attached to Delta Sate Intelligence Bureau (SIB) with the assistance of the command’s tactical teams, got intelligence on the whereabout of the suspects, which led to their arrest.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, the prime suspect in the murder, Okwudili Obi, is notorious for murders and other violent crimes im.the community.
Bright said: “ Obi, a native of the Community and a notorious principal suspect in a case of multiple murders and arsons in the community, was involved in the murder of one Sunday Nwachukwu and Fidelis Amani, who were allegedly murdered sometimes in the year 2017.
“ He and his cohort has been on the wanted list of the command. Exhibit recovered from him includes three cutlasses, six daggers, one long sword, charms wrapped with red/white blood stained cloths. The case is still under investigation with a view to arresting his accomplices who are currently at large. ”
Similarly, operatives of the Otu-Jeremi Police Division, have arrested one Michael Oghorume, 19, for the alleged murder of one Timaya.
It was gathered that the suspect had attacked and killed the deceased during a cult clash.
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ari Muhammed Ali had ordered that the Divisional Police Officer, Otu-Jeremi Division fish out those suspects involved in the killing and bring them to book.
“ The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Pius Eredei, a Superintendent of Police (SP), in compliance with the CP’s directive had been on the lookout, and after due intelligence gathering acted on a tip off and arrested the suspect who is a member of dominion confraternity. He was arrested at Eyara Community in Otu-Jeremi.
“ The suspect made useful statement which led to the arrest of one Timothy Samuel, 20, of Eyara Community and three others. Exhibit recovered from them included one double barrel cut to size gun, some rolls of electric cable wire and one cutlass, The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the suspects and exhibit be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Meanwhile Manhunt for other cult members terrorizing the community is ongoing, ” he said.
The Police spokesperson further stated that men of the ‘A’ Division, stormed a black spot at Orerokpe Local Government Area, where Nelson Newman, 27, was arrested with 35 wraps of skunk.
