A Bhisho High Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man, Sive Dubula to 24 years imprisonment for the rape and murder of his 76-year-old grandmother, Kuku Bikitsha, as well as killing his uncle, Mongezi Bikitsha.
It was gathered that the crime reportedly happened at their home on NU5, Mdantsane in Eastern Cape Province on September 9 2020.
According to the Buffalo City District Police Commissioner, Major General Henry Vos, the suspect was arraigned before Judge Hartle of the Bhisho High Court
Vos, who welcomed the sentence said: “Dubula was sentenced by Judge Hartle of the Bhisho High Court to an effective 24 years direct imprisonment on count one for killing his granny, Kuku Bikitsha, 76 and another 24 years direct imprisonment on count two for killing his uncle, Mongezi Bikitsha, 59.
“Furthermore, he was sentenced to 20 years for raping his granny on count three and one month for theft on count four. The Judge made a ruling that count three and count four will run concurrently with count one and two, therefore Dubula will serve a total of 24 years imprisonment.
“Investigation by Warrant Officer Mncedisi Balitafa of Mdantsane SAPS detectives revealed that Dubula found his 76-year-old grandmother asleep at their Nu5, Mdantsane home on the night of September 9. He raped his grandmother and suffocated her to death with a pillow case.
“He proceeded to another room and found his 59-year-old uncle asleep and also suffocated him with a pillow case to death.”
