A 37-year-old man, Justice Lyke Ikachuku has been arrested and arraigned at a Bloemfontein Magistrate Court for charges bothering on human trafficking.
It was gathered that the accused, lured a 23-year-old South African lady with a proposal of a relationship that may likely lead to marriage, but forced the victim into prostitution. According to the police, the criminal act happened between December 4, 2020 and February 14, 2021.
Police sources said Ikachuku had earlier promised the victim a hair salon and a music studio, before taking her hostage.
“ He then coerced the victim to work as a sex slave. On several occasions Ikachuku booked the victim in different guest houses to meet clients. The money that she received for sexual exploitation was then collected by Ikachuku.
“ The victim managed to escape after one of the client’s gave her R350 to run away. She then ran to the police where a case was opened and reported to the Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation for further probe which led to the arrest of Ikachuku on Friday, February 26, ” the police source disclosed.
Security Watch Africa reports that the case against Ikachuku has been postponed to Monday, March 8, for formal bail application.
