A prime suspect, Mxoleleni Sokhahla, in the murder of two policemen, Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko, 46, and Constable Mninawa Breakfast, 28, has been arraigned at the Blue Downs Magistrates court.
The accused was arraigned recently, but the case was adjourned to March 9, 2021 for formal bail application.
According to the Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS), South African Police Service, Sokhahla is facing a two count charge of murder and one of attempted murder after it was discovered that a 25-year-old woman, a civilian was also shot during the incident.
Speaking for the police, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said Sikhahla remained in custody until his next appearance in court.
It would be recalled that Security Watch Africa had earlier reported of the killing of the two police officers, on Sunday (28/02/2021).
The investigation was assigned to the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS) to apprehend the suspect or suspects and to bring them to book.
The Police Minister, General Bheki Cele, at a time was in Cape Town to commiserate with the families of the deceased officers.
