Operatives from the Integrated South African Police Service (SAPS) Forces, comprising the Cape Town Tactical Response Team (TRT) and K-9 Unit, have arrested a 40-year-old man, with large quantities of drug and unlicenced firearms.
It was learnt that the operatives in an intelligence-driven operation, searched a residence in Milnerton, where the drugs reportedly worth R18,682,500 were discovered.
“ The targeted operation saw the forces descending on the property in Burcell Street, Tijgerhof in Milnerton and confiscating 52kg of crystal meth estimated at R18.2 million, 8,850 pieces of mandrax tablets, valued at R442,500, 0.5kg of hydroponic dagga valued R40,000, three pistols and a revolver, 286 rounds of ammunition, and 13 magazines and a holster.
A Police source who spoke on the arrest said the suspect is facing charges relating to dealing in drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, as he appeared in court on Friday.
“ Investigation continues, the possibility of more suspects apprehended and the one in custody facing additional charges, cannot be ruled out, ” the source said.
