Three suspects have been arrested for assaulting a car owner, and robbing him of his vehicle and other valuables in Durban, South Africa.
It was gathered that the three men armed with a firearm and a knife accosted the complainant at his home on Murchison Street in Ladysmith.
Security Watch Africa reports that at gunpoint the suspects assaulted the victim with a firearm butt and robbed him of his cellphone as well as cash before they fled the scene with his vehicle.
Captain Nqobile Gwala of the South African Police Service, Office of the Provincial Commissioner, KwaZulu-Natal, said neighbouring stations were immediately contacted to be on the look-out.
“ The vehicle was spotted travelling along the R74 towards Greytown. The Greytown Task Team was activated and they were joined by a security company from Greytown. The victim’s vehicle was spotted on the R74 in Greytown.
“ The vehicle was intercepted and three suspects aged between 25 and 35 were placed under arrest. The suspects were found in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as a knife. The men were charged with house robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a dangerous weapon and contravention of the Immigration Act, ” he said.
Gwala added that suspects have appeared before the Ladysmith Magistrates Court.
