The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Khehla Sitole has condemned the killing of a police sergeant and a constable in Western Cape.
It was gathered that the policemen were on patrol in Phumla Street in Bloekombos, when their vehicle came under fire.
While conveying his condolences to the families of the slain operatives, Sitole said they were attached to Kraaifontein Police Station, and their names will be announced once their next of keen have been formally notified.
“ Both members were killed on the scene and robbed of their official firearms. We condemn this murders and we have ordered that the 72-hour Activation Plan be implemented to mobilise all the resources need to investigate this case.
“ The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation has been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heinous act that seeks to undermine the Authority of the State.
“ We are appealing to anyone with information that will lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators responsible for the killing of our members to contact the SAPS Crime Stop number +27 8600 10111 or send tip-offs on My SAPS App.
