The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has intercepted some smuggled Skin-lightening creams worth R14,235,600.00.
The illegal creams included 291 x boxes of Betasol, 15 x boxes of Diproson, 36 x boxes of Epiderm Lotion and 5 x boxes of Carolight.
The Information was provided to Security Watch Africa (SWA) on Monday by Captain A. Tamela of Joint Tactical Headquarters.
It reads “7 South African Infantry Battalion soldiers are continuing to make a mark in the Mpumalanga Area of Responsibility, in their Operation CORONA Tour of duty. On 08 December, 2021, soldiers received information about a truck that was carrying illegal goods from Mozambique.
“The truck was intercepted along the N4 near Komartipoort Area. On further inspection of the goods, it was established that the truck was loaded with bran on both sides but had boxes of skin-lightening creams in the middle of the load.
“The truck was escorted to the SA Revenue Service warehouse in Komatipoort and the following contents were offloaded and handed over to SA Revenue Service.
“The total estimated value of creams was R14,235,600.00,” it said.
