South African Police Service in Free State Province, South Africa, have arrested three suspects for allegedly robbing a man of his bank card and cash.
The suspects, who were earlier reported to be wanted by the Parkroad Police, attacked the victim on March 30, at Boitumelo Mall in Thabong.
According to Colonel Thandi Mbambo, the victim reported the robbery to Public Order Police Reaction Team, who were on routine visible policing and crime prevention duties at the mall.
He said the operatives also noticed a suspicious white sedan driving at high speed from the mall.
“ At the same time, members were approached by shoppers who told them that the occupants of the same vehicle had stolen their bank cards. Members chased the said vehicle until at G-hostel in Thabong. A white Haval with GP registration numbers stopped and occupants jumped from the vehicle and fled in different directions.
“ The members chased them and managed to arrest three suspects aged 25, 30 and 33, from Rocklands in Mangaung Bloemfontein. The arrested suspects were taken to the vehicle and whilst busy with the search, a bank card belonging to the complainant and cash were found inside the car.
“ The vehicle was also seized. Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a warrant of arrest for the same suspects by Parkroad Police on a similar crime. The three suspects will appear in Welkom Magistrate Court soon. ”
