The South African Police Service (SAPS), has deployed more operatives to Bityi area of OR Rambo District in Eastern Cape Province, following the spike in crime.
The Provincial Commissioner, Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga, who spoke on the deployment said it is an effort to eradicate the rampant crime in a crime-ridden Bityi area.
She said the deployed Intervention Team is to camp in the area for a couple of months.
“The operational deployment in Bityi is part of a determined effort by the South African Police Management in the Eastern Cape to intensify strategies to enhance successes and customer satisfaction.
“Additional physical and human resources have been deployed to give impetus to this intervention for better results,” Ntshinga said.
