Police operatives in the Eastern Cape are of South Africa have arrested a 50-year-old suspect in an attempted murder and malicious damage to property case in Tsomo.
Police spokesperson, Captain Roelofse claimed that the suspect was involved in a shooting incident at Tsomo on the 13 February 2021.
According to the spokesperson “On further investigation, information was received that he was heading in the direction of Aliwal North.
“The SAPS on the side of Queenstown and Aliwal North were alerted and the vehicle was spotted and the suspect was arrested on 15 February 2021 at 11:00 at Aliwal North.
“His vehicle as well as firearms including a Ruger long revolver, Smith and Wesson Rifle and ammunition to the value of R350 000-00 were confiscated.”
Captain Roelofse also said that the suspect was in possession of valid firearm licences for hunting.
“He was transported back by Tsomo SAPS for detention where he will also appear in court.”
Roelofse also quoted acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Rudolph Adolph, as commending the members on the swift forces’ reaction and the successful combined operation across District borders.
