Two person have been confirmed killed, while four others have sustained various degree of injuries, following a shooting incident at Ermelo, Mpumalanga Province in South Africa.
Police say three suspects involved in the shooting have been arrested and will be charge to court for murder and attempted murder soon.
Speaking for the Office of the Provincial Commissioner in Mpumalanga, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said preliminary investigation suggests that a group of armed suspects driving in a sedan, entered a certain tavern at Suncity in Ermelo where they randomly fired shots and as a result, six men became victims.
“ Police and medical personnel were notified about the incident and upon arrival, one man was certified dead. The other five were taken to hospital for medical treatment where unfortunately the second victim also succumbed to his injuries.
“ A probe into the incident was immediately sanctioned, as a result, the three were arrested yesterday, Friday, March 19. During the arrest, Police recovered two firearms and ammunitions, an act which culminated into additional charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
“ Police will also widen the scope of their probe with a view to establish if the firearms were not illegally used elsewhere. The trio are due to appear before the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, March 23. The suspects are between age 24 and 29, ” he said.
